A tender teen-romance in the style of "Beauty and the Beast"
Due
to the economic collapse, the Aldrich family has lost everything except their
home...and that's about to be foreclosed on. The Aldrich twins – ZANDER
(short for Alexander) and the gorgeous but spoiled ALEXIA – have difficulty
adapting while their younger sister, CHARL (short for Charlotte), has taken
this reversal in fortune in stride, first by getting a part time job in a
nursing home then by focusing on bettering her grades to better her chances for
scholarships to college. While Zander was scouted for a sports
scholarship, he's not good enough to overcome his low GPA and test scores so he
breaks into the principal's office to change them in the system and is caught
by MITCH, the school's resident freak.
Mitch is an accomplished graphic artist who is partially deaf and keeps to himself and his very few friends. Because of his computer prowess, he's the de facto IT guy for the school, so he's there updating the security system when Zander tries to hack in. Zander offers Mitch a date with Charl if he agrees not to report him. Mitch has a crush on Charl so deflects the rather offensive offer to Alexia and demands Zander make her go on five dates with him.
Zander reluctantly agrees but Alexia screamingly refuses. Panicked, Zander gets Charl to talk Mitch into taking her place...and the first two dates are anything but fun. At one point, she grows to believe Mitch is stalking her. Mitch tells Charl if she'll just go to the winter prom with him, that will complete the deal. At first she tries to get out of it, but her father gently reminds her she always keeps her promises. Doesn’t help that he likes Mitch and has used the boy’s computer prowess to discover discrepancies in his accounts that suggest fraud at the bank. So Charl prepares for what she knows will be the worst night of her life. But then she sees Mitch...and he's been made over by his friends to look almost like a young prince...and the night suddenly looks promising.
This third date could lead to a first love…but Zander and Alexia now see their sister is falling for someone they hate, and they set out to sabotage any chance at romance.
